Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers about what Sereze does, what it doesn't, and how it works.

What is Sereze?

Sereze is a focused breathwork app for iPhone and Apple Watch. It guides you through real techniques — 4-7-8, box breathing, belly breathing, Kapalabhati, Wim Hof, and more — to help you calm down, sleep, or reset before something stressful.

How is it different from Calm, Headspace, or Insight Timer?

Sereze is a painkiller, not a content library. There's no streak, no social feed, no daily nudge. You open it when you need it, do a 2-to-5-minute session, and close it. That's the whole product.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Sereze works fully on iPhone alone. If you have an Apple Watch, you can use the companion app for haptic-led sessions and see live heart rate.

What does Sereze read from Apple Health?

Only with your permission: HRV, resting heart rate, heart rate, respiratory rate, VO2Max, sleep, and movement. Sereze uses these to suggest the right session for the moment. You can revoke any of these in Settings → Health at any time. Sereze also writes Mindful Minutes back when you finish a session.

Does my data leave my phone?

Your sessions, journal, and Apple Health values are stored locally. Anonymous usage events (e.g. that a session started and ended) go to PostHog so we can see what helps. No name, email, location, or Health data is sent. See the Privacy page for the full picture.

What about the AI features?

Optional AI features (insights, journaling assistance, Explore recommendations) send only the text you tap to share to OpenAI, Anthropic, or xAI to generate a response. Nothing from Health or your journal is sent unless you explicitly trigger an AI action.

Are these exercises safe for everyone?

Most are gentle and safe. Some, like Wim Hof and Kapalabhati, are intense — they're not recommended for pregnancy, heart conditions, high blood pressure, epilepsy, or panic disorder. Talk to your doctor before starting if you have a medical condition. Stop immediately if you feel dizzy.

Can I customize a session?

Yes. You can adjust phase length (inhale / hold / exhale), session duration, and choose between voice guidance and silent timers.

How do I set a reminder?

Open any exercise, scroll to the Reminder section, and pick a time. Sereze won't nudge you outside the reminder you set — no marketing pushes, no streak warnings. Read the walkthrough.

How do I improve my BOLT (breath-hold) score?

Under VO2 Max in the app, there are three test exercises. Run them weekly; longer-exhale patterns over time tend to improve your CO2 tolerance. Read more.

What does it cost?

Free to download. Premium unlocks unlimited sessions and AI features. Free for 90 days, no card required. Cancel anytime in Apple ID settings.
